Exhausting. Exhilarating. Inspiring.
My students are amazing and I have already bought them into me as their teacher and our classroom as an oasis.
I have noticed some of the more immediate challenges (behaviorally and academically that I will have this year) but I am excited about bringing every student up to the level of Achievement.
Keep the prayers. Keep the strength.

Official Season begins....
Institute is over.
One of the toughest experiences of my life. It was a pledge process.
I am almost ready for my classroom.
For the next 2 years, I will be teaching 7th grade Mathematics. God Answers all prayers and I am thankful for everyone who has supported me!

These past 3 weeks have led me to one question Im constantly challenging myself to think about:
My freedom or theirs?
So many universal lessons of struggle, passion, desire, frustration, and road to perfection that I am revisiting.
There's only 24 hours in a day and theres alot to do.

TFA Post # 5
This is not for the weak..I have already heard talks from some about dropping...and its only the beginning of Week 2.
This is tough work! Our bottomline is the students learning growth.
Every learner is unique. We must empower that.
Week 1 was a struggle adapting. The beginning of Week 2 has been rough in some ways and easier in others.
My first teaching lesson was today! It went well. I have to ensure I stay focused on go hard. I love my students. They already inspire me. They cannot Fail because I will not fail.

Teach for America Post #2
Institute Day #1
The first day of institute in Atlanta was a glimpse of how grueling and demanding the next 5 weeks will be. I have already began to extract from several experiences to which I remember being so challenged: the multiple experiences both in leadership and in training for Kappa Alpha Psi and the long summer days at the Institute for Responsible Citizenship. All of these experiences, including the one that I am about to endure remind me that success is HARD WORK, a relentless pursuit of goals and a hunger that suffices any long hour, mental and physical overkill and exhaustion.
Yo SOY UN GUARDIAN. I am the foundation. My student outcomes are first contingent upon my disposition. I must believe for them to achieve therefore I believe therefore they will! I. We. You.
Teaching as leadership is an approach that is both noble and wise. My goal is not for my students to learn math (though it will certainly be the primary academic and main component). My goal is for my students to become lovers of learning and enjoy a culture of Achievement from HARD WORK, a relentless pursuit of goals and a hunger that suffices any long hour, mental and physical overkill and exhaustion!

Teach for America Post # 1
I have signed myself up to become a co-creator of allowing student's destinies to manifest. I am excited by the opportunity, saddened by the realities of our educational system (especially in Georgia to which it is the 47th worst performing state according to standardized tests), and nervous that the future of so many will rely in my hands. I am en route to becoming the best ambassador I can be as a secondary mathematics teacher through Teach for America in the Metro-Atlanta region.
I have realized in the 2 days that so many of us (305) are here to witness and be apart of a shared vision: educational opportunities that provide pathways for success. Each and every single one of us have been the beneficiaries of this mission that we are after.
I expect this experience to be a whole lot of spiritual, emotional, physical and mental stress but I am very much looking forward to being stretched and pulled.
